Job Qualifications
- Holder of an internationally recognized Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer certification.
- Degree or diploma in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer, preferably within a luxury hotel, resort, fitness centre, or wellness environment.
- Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is preferred.
- Qualified to conduct fitness assessments, personal training sessions, group exercise classes, and customized fitness programmes.
- Strong knowledge of exercise techniques, fitness equipment, health and safety standards, and injury-prevention practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, motivational, and guest relations skills.
- Ability to provide professional and personalized fitness guidance according to individual guest needs and fitness levels.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are an advantage.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Operational
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and professional daily operation of the Fitness Centre.
- Provide professional fitness guidance and assistance to guests and members according to their individual needs and fitness levels.
- Conduct fitness assessments and develop appropriate exercise programmes in accordance with approved procedures.
- Conduct personal training sessions, group exercise classes, and scheduled fitness activities.
- Demonstrate the correct and safe use of fitness equipment and exercise techniques.
- Monitor guests and members during exercise activities and provide appropriate guidance and support.
- Maintain an active and approachable presence on the gym floor.
- Ensure guests and members comply with Fitness Centre rules, safety requirements, and appropriate attire guidelines.
- Conduct daily inspections of fitness equipment and facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper functionality.
- Report equipment defects, maintenance requirements, safety concerns, or operational issues immediately.
- Ensure the Fitness Centre, exercise areas, equipment, and facilities are maintained in a clean, organized, and presentable condition.
- Coordinate with the Spa and Fitness leadership team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Support the planning and implementation of fitness activities, wellness programmes, and guest engagement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of fitness assessments, personal training sessions, classes, equipment inspections, and guest activities as required.
2. Guest Service
- Provide courteous, professional, personalized, and attentive service to guests and members at all times.
- Welcome guests and provide clear information regarding Fitness Centre facilities, services, programmes, and activities.
- Understand guests’ fitness goals and provide suitable recommendations within the scope of professional qualifications.
- Handle guest enquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with guests, members, Chedians, and other departments.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up on guest requests, feedback, or concerns.
- Protect guest privacy and maintain the confidentiality of personal and fitness-related information.
3. Health, Safety & Hygiene
- Ensure all fitness activities are conducted safely and in accordance with approved procedures and professional standards.
- Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures, First Aid, CPR, and the appropriate use of emergency equipment.
- Ensure fitness equipment is used safely and correctly.
- Monitor the Fitness Centre for potential health and safety hazards and report any concerns immediately.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation throughout the Fitness Centre.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to established procedures.
- Follow all hotel policies and local requirements relating to health, safety, hygiene, fire, security, and emergency procedures.
4. Administration
- Maintain accurate daily logbooks, guest records, class schedules, fitness assessments, and operational documentation.
- Record and report equipment defects, maintenance requirements, incidents, guest feedback, and operational concerns.
- Maintain accurate attendance and participation records for fitness classes and activities.
- Support the preparation of fitness schedules, activities, promotions, and departmental reports as required.
- Ensure all records are maintained accurately and handled confidentially.
5. Other Duties
- Attend and contribute to departmental briefings, meetings, training sessions, and hotel activities as required.
- Maintain high standards of personal presentation, grooming, hygiene, and professional conduct.
- Comply with the Employee Handbook, hotel policies, departmental procedures, and GHM standards.
- Keep up to date with fitness trends, exercise techniques, wellness practices, and industry developments.
- Respond positively and flexibly to changes in operational requirements.
- Support other areas of the Spa and Wellness operation when required.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities assigned by the Spa Manager or Hotel Management.
